My Fitness Journey: Defined Physique Fitness

So in November 2018 I was approached by Kyle who runs Defined Physique Fitness to start training with him, to achieve my fitness goals.

Naturally, I jumped to the opportunity and started training immediately.

I’ve had a few experiences with personal trainers before, but never with one who is as dedicated to my personal goals as Kyle.

In our first session, he tested my fitness levels and asked me to identify the areas of my body I’d like to work on.

I’ll share them with you, because I like you:

  • my arms are one of the most obvious areas on my body that show weight gain. I also have the upper body strength of a new born baby. I used to have great arms, so I’d just like to get them back to looking toned and strong.
  • I’d also like to work at losing some belly fat and getting myself back to flat tummy vibes
  • While I’m glad I’ve finally got a bit of a booty, I’d like to tone it and firm it a bit more.
  • My legs are very strong but they could use some toning -I’d also like to try and eliminate cellulite through exercise.

So the goal is to try and find a happy medium between what I look like now and what I looked like then- because I like things about both my bodies. I’ve felt very insecure lately about my body because I’ve picked up a bit of weight, but through this fitness journey and working out, I’m slowly regaining my confidence and starting to love my body and all the amazing things it can do.

It’s easy to be body-positive when you can fit into anything in the store, I’m trying to love my body in every shape and form it may take.

Working with Kyle has helped me push past my limits, he’s always in the gym with me saying, “just one more rep, Nadine” – and that’s the type of push someone like me needs. Our workouts are focused on what I want to achieve but Kyle also knows that I have to perform 6-7 shows a week which requires me to dance, so he gives me workouts that don’t leave me too fatigued afterwards.

I’ve already started to look a bit more toned and people have pointed out the difference in my body- but nothing can compare to the confidence I’ve gained over the past few months. And for that I’ll always be thankful.

Training takes place in Pinelands in a private gym, so you don’t have any muscle guys laughing at you while you’re struggling to do a push up (trust me, the struggle is real!)

Justine Dailycare Hydrating Review

What’s up Beauties!

I felt super spoilt this week, when Rubybox sent me this amazing range from Justine. The Dailycare Hydrating Range is formulated for dry skin types and is a 3 step daily regimen.

Justine has really gone all out with the Dailycare range, they have formulated different ranges depending on your skincare needs. The Dailycare products includes ranges for  Hydrating, Perfecting and Balancing the skin. As I have dry skin, I was sent the Hydrating range.

It’s clinically proven to increase hydration in the skin after one use for up to 8 hours. 

I’ve been using this product for two weeks now and I can see the difference in my skin already. 

The cleanser leaves my skin looking brighter immediately after I’ve washed it – it doesn’t make my skin feel dry, instead it feels so refreshed that I feel like I could just use the cleanser and go on with my day. 

I’m not usually a fan of toners, but this one is quite nice- it’s a gel toner which is different to the toning liquids and lotions available on the market. It’s formulated to retain the skin’s natural moisture. Personally I feel that while it succeeds in removing excess dirt and bacteria on my skin, it leaves my skin feeling tight and in need of the moisturiser. 

The Moisturiser is my favourite in the range, it has SPF 20, to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays but besides that it leaves my skin feeling EXTREMELY hydrated for hours. Literally it feels like I’ve just applied it even hours later. 

I wasn’t familiar with this brand until I received this range, I haven’t seen it in any retail stores, I think it works like Avon, where you need to order products from a consultant. Eurotrip: Prague, Czech Republic

I had no idea what to expect when traveling to Prague, I didn’t know much about the city beforehand. And I’m so glad I didn’t, because it blew me away. The landscapes, the architecture, the cafes – what a beautiful little city.

We started our day in Prague visiting the Prague Castle, which dates back to the 9th century! Our walking tour consisted of walking from the castle, through the cobblestone roads, past the thousands of cafés and over the Charles Bridge, where you get the most amazing view of Prague and get to do some souvenir shopping. We also headed for the town square where we saw the astronomical clock and some more of Prague’s gems.

We spent the evening getting dinner at the Plus Prague Hostel, before heading off to a club called the Golden Tree- if you’re looking to party, this club is amazing. It’s three floors underground, with even a pole dancing section (if that’s what you’re into!) haha – but the music was great, the drinks were decently priced and we had a great night!

I spent the second day exploring the city, walking around from the town square and winding through the roads. In the afternoon, we took a tour of a soviet nuclear bunker with The Prague Communism and Nuclear Bunker Tour. This was pretty cool and our tour guide really made the experience worth while. The nuclear bunker is still ready for future use and can store up to 2000+ people. It was originally intended for 5000+ people, but being down there shows you why that would be uncomfortable. The tour includes information about Prague’s communist history and gives you the option to dress up in some old soviet army outfits and gas masks.

The rest of the group went off to a traditional Czech dinner with folklore dancing. I opted for a night in, to catch up on some much needed rest!

All in all, Prague moves up on my list and is now my favorite city! Add it to your bucket lists, it will change your life.
