Environ Revival Masque and Hydrating Oil Capsules Review

What’s up 20 Somethings!

Now if you’ve been following my blog from its developing stages, one of the first beauty products and brands I was sent to Review was the Environ Original Range. Since then I’ve been in love with their products and do whatever I can to get my hands on them.

So it was only natural that I did a little dance when Beauty Bulletin called me to let me know I’d be a part of their new Environ Campaign!

The range they sent me consisted of two products: The Revival Masque and the Hydrating Oil Capsules. It was love at first use for me. Immediately after my first application I felt an improvement in my skin- but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you about the products first.

The Revival Masque:

This innovative Masque contains alpha Hydroxy acids which help exfoliate the upper most layer of the skin leaving you with fresher looking skin that looks and feels revived and smooth. Over time this product will help the skin feel more hydrated and firmer. This product is aimed at keeping your skin looking youthful- let’s face it, you’re never too young to use anti-aging products. Prevention is better than cure.

The packaging is super sleek and innovative, with a pump dispenser your product is as good as new no matter how many times you use it. It’s a “no mess no fuss” application, just grab the brush that accompanies the product, pump the dispenser and apply the Masque! I’m obsessed.

The Hydrating Oil Capsules:

These capsules contain a blend of retinol and antioxidants to protect the skin from the damaging affect of free radicals leaving the skin looking radiant and silky smooth.

The container contains capsules, which you can use twice a week. Guys, I wish I could upload the feeling the content of these capsules give your skin. It’s mind blowing.

Okay! Review Time!

The ingredients in the Masque are extremely strong and active, so on my first application I experienced a tingling sensation. The pamphlet within the box suggested starting out with only 10 mins before washing off, gradually as your skin gets more used to the product it can be worn for up to 20 mins or even as an over-night Masque.

Even after my first application my skin looked revived and radiant. The Masque applies easily and you don’t need much to spread over your entire face and neck. I actually had to tell myself to stop because it felt so good to apply, I just kept going. I’ve only been using the product twice a week for 4 weeks, and I’m sure with continued use this product will do wonders for my skin and aging prevention.

The Hydrating Oil Capsules are a gift from the heavens. Each application is in its own little capsule to ensure that the oil is in optimum condition for application. Just twist off the tip or cut it off and apply it generously all over your face then rub it in and feel the magic. Now I must warn you, once you’ve applied this product you will not be able to stop touching your face! It’s amazing. The oil is absorbed into the skin leaving it feeling extremely silky soft instead of oily. This feeling lasts all day and the next. These oil capsules are a game changer, I’ll definitely be repurchasing them in the future.

The revival Masque retails for R1020 and the Hydrating Oil Capsules(30 pack) retail at R730 – so it’s a bit on the pricey side of life. I know I can’t afford to be buying these products every single month. But they are worth it guys. And they last quite a while as they do not need to be applied every single day for you to get results. Add them to your Christmas list, ask your rich single auntie to hook you up or start an Environ savings fund- just do what you need to do to experience this product.

Like, with prices this high, I can’t afford to lie to you about this, so trust me. These products worked wonders for my skin and I’m sure they’ll do the same for you.

Justine Tissue Oil Review

I’ve got a very loyal relationship with tissue oil; I believe that it is a vital part of a 20 Something’s beauty Regime. Like, prevention is better than cure, babes.

Most people use tissue oil for stretch marks; preventing them or getting rid of them. That’s Justine Tissue Oil’s claim to fame: that it can get rid of stretch marks in a matter of weeks. In fact, this miracle tissue oil promises to:

• Banish scars and stretch marks twice as fast as other tissue oils

• Protect the skin against sun damage

• Help the skin look younger in under a week

• Improve skin texture

• Reduce lines and wrinkles

I’m lucky enough to not have any stretch marks yet, besides a few small ones here and there. But I do have a rare skin problem, which causes uneven skin in the affected areas. I also have extremely dry skin, so I was hoping that this tissue oil could help me eradicate these two concerns.

I found that after 3 or 4 weeks of using this product, my skin is sufficiently softer and smoother. My driest skin areas look a lot better and feel amazing now. So yay!

Unfortunately, This tissue oil did not do much for my pigmentation issue caused by my skin problem, which is to be expected- I’ve seen dermatologists in every corner of the city and no one has been able to tell me what causes this issue or how to cure it. So I was really hoping for a miracle with this tissue oil.

Although I didn’t get my own desired results, I have seen this product work for a lot of other people, so I wouldn’t write it off based off my assessment. It might be the miracle product you’ve been waiting for.

I’ve been using Justine products for the past two months now and the brand has really impressed me. Even though it didn’t change the appearance of my uneven skin tone, my skin feels amazing. And it has really helped to get rid of small scars I have on various parts of my body. The Justine brand is beyond amazing,

Have you tried any of their products? Let me know in the comments section.

Special shout out to Rubybox for the hookup and Dexter Williams for proofreading like a boss.

BYYYE!

In My Make-Up Bag: Setting Products

Hey 20 Somethings!

So I’ve had a lot of people ask me how I get my make up to stay put, despite sweating while I’m on stage or wearing it for hours on end. Well, my secret is simple: setting powder and lots of setting spray.

Essence Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder:

I’ve used a lot of setting powders in the past, and some brands can cost between R400 and R500 for a setting powder. (ridiculous right?!) I used to pay this price until I discovered the Essence Stay All Day powder: available in compact or loose powder form. There’s nothing special about this product, I mean a setting powder is a setting powder. But why pay more when you can pay literally R64,95 for the compact powder (called “all about matte”) and R72,95 for the Stay All day Translucent fixing powder.

How I use it?

I use the fixing powder to bake my concealer especially under the eye to avoid those annoying lines that form after a few hours and around any other problem areas on my face (smile lines, T-section etc.) it can be applied using a kabuki brush of your choice.

Setting powder is great if you have a sweaty face like me- like legit if I’m hot, my face will tell you first. And it helps keep my make up on fleek while I’m performing as well. #grateful

NYX Matte Finishing Spray

If you have just one thing in your make up bag, let it be finishing spray, I never knew how much I needed this product till I started using it.

I use it when my make up is complete, four sprays to my face and I’m ready to go. I focus on each quarter of my face for each spray. I mean you could get away with one spray- but life is about excess.

Just make sure your mascara and liquid liner have dried before spraying this because it will leave mascara smudges if you do it before your mascara is ready.

For the affordable price of 164,95 it’s an easy addition to any make up bag!

Well those are the setting products I can’t live without? What brands are your fave? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

Dove Derma Spa Hand Treatment Review

Hey there 20 Somethings!

As someone who suffers from extremely dry hands, especially at this time of the year, I am always on the hunt for a good hand lotion to save me from peeling skin on my hands. This is why I was very happy to receive the Dove DermaSpa Indulgent Hand Treatment from Rubybox.

I put my hands through a lot, if they’re not lifting dumbbells at the gym, then they’re carrying plates and cutlery at work. As a result I have calluses on my hands and peeling skin. I experience this even more during the change of season and nothing I’ve used in the past has been able to help.

I’ve been using this product for the past two weeks and have really enjoyed my trial, I find that my hands feel instantly smoother after application and they look amazing. It contains a hint of shimmer which contributes to luminous looking skin.

The Dove Indulgent Hand Cream contains Omega Oil and cell moisturizers, and the fact that it is fast-absorbing means it gives gives your hands the ultimate spa experience- and it fits in your hand bag. It’s become the product I cannot leave home without these days.

While my hands still have a bit of peeling skin, they feel 100 times better than they did before I started using this product. I’m sure with continued use, dry hands will be a thing of the past for me- and I am so ready for that!

What Dove products have you tested? Which are your fave?

Nivea Perfect and Radiant Micellar Water

I’ve always been a fan of Micellar water for make up removal. It’s gentle on the skin and has great beauty benefits. So when I found out that Nivea had released their own Micellar range, I had to join the party.

Shout out to Rubybox for sending me this awesome product.

Firstly. Can we talk about the size of the bottle?! It’s huge. This is definitely gonna last me a few months. I hate having to restock products that finish too soon, especially something I use as often as make up remover.

What makes this different from other Micellar products?

Well for starters, it’s a three in one product that can be used for cleansing, removing make up and toning your face. So essentially- this is the only product you need. I have the entire Perfect and Radiant range now (thanks to Rubybox you guys rock) and I find that this product fits in perfectly with my skincare routine.

Also it’s great for days when I’m feeling lazy about cleansing my face, I just dab some product in a cotton wool swob and give my face a refreshing cleanse (also, saving water! #beatdayzero)

It removes make up effortlessly. My waterproof make up wipes off without having to scrub the skin off my face.

I often struggled, with previous Micellar products, to remove my mascara. But this product removes mascara quick and painlessly.

The formula is enriched with Vitamin E which contributes to easy make up removal, Radiant skin and it also leaves the skin feeling incredibly nourished and smooth.

A 400ml bottle will cost you R99.99 at any Clicks and Dischem store nationwide.

I’m definitely switching to this product in future for my make up removal needs.

Have you tried it? What did you think?

Until next time!

Get Ready for Summer with Elancyl (Review)

Cellulite is a part of every woman’s life, whether you choose to accept it or not. I know the first time I saw my cellulite I wanted to cry a little! That’s why I was really excited when Rubybox sent me the Elancyl Slim Design Cream which promises to tone, firm and soothe. I’ve tried many firming lotions before in the past but none have really worked for me – so I was keen to find out if this product would work.

First Impression:

The packaging is sleek and elegant and the bottle will fit easily into any traveling bags if you want to take it with on holiday. The cream itself smells amazing. It’s a brownish colour that leaves my skin feeling moisturized all day (literally ALL day!) and gives it a beautiful glow (it has some shimmer to it, giving you the summer glow that will stop traffic. It’s amazing.)

Final Review:

So I’ve been using it for the past two weeks (which is the amount of time they tell you to use it before you see results) the leaflet inside the box comes with massage instructions, which are quite specific to ensure you get the most out of your product and that it penetrates the skin well- it’s quite an arm workout.

As the two weeks progressed I started feeling a bit more confident in my skin, my buttocks and thigh area were looking a lot firmer and didn’t jiggle as much. But when I pinched my skin I still saw some cellulite.

Yesterday I compared before and after pictures and I can honestly say I’m satisfied with the result, I wasn’t expecting a miracle from this product but it’s definitely made my jiggly bits a bit firmer and made them looked toned. And when I did the “pinch test” I found that my cellulite was less visible! (YAS!)

Of course this product isn’t gonna do all the work for you, it goes hand in hand with regular squats, to get that summer booty you desire.
It goes for R395 at Dis-Chem pharmacies.
Thanks to Rubybox for hooking me up.

NIVEA: Perfect and Radiant Review

Quickie Review!

I love Nivea, let’s just start with that. They provide affordable products that are great for your skin. Honestly.

Untitled design-2
I’ve used this product in the past and when Rubybox sent me some more this month, I was reminded how much I love this product. It’s a dream on my skin, it spreads easily and feels like I’m covering my skin with a silk mask. It provides all day smoothness and radiance. My skin has a beautiful glow all day and feel extremely nourished and refreshed! This is definitely value for money, you won’t regret it.

It’s a day cream, which contains SPF 15. (Hello, sun protection!) It fits well into your skin routine and will leave your skin feeling amazing! I pair it with the Nivea Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash and the Nivea Refreshing Toner.

xoxo,

Nadine!

African Extracts #RooibosRepair Facial Oil

There are many pros and cons to using a facial oil. Some people love it and achieve amazing results and others prefer to stick to the more traditional products. When I received the African Extracts Rooibos Repair Facial Oil from the Beauty Bulliten, I was excited to use it because I had never used a facial oil before.

First Impression
“Whoa! This bottle is cool!” – Seriously, the packaging of this product is like something from the future, you twist the cap and a little button pops up which you use to dispense the oil. Its so cool! It smells amazing and a few drops go very far!

Do you need a Facial Oil?
A facial oil is great for skin that suffers from dryness, flakiness or dehydration that isn’t being cured by your moisturiser. A facial oil is a great component to add to your skincare routine in addition to your moisturiser. (First cleanse, tone, apply facial oil then moisturise.)
Facial Oils are helpful for keeping the skin’s own hydration locked in. They also work great at smoothing our your skin’s surface.

Untitled design

10 Fun Facts about The African Extracts Daily Repair Facial Oil (according to their website):
– It offers protection against environmental damage from the sun that causes premature ageing.
– It minimises the appearance of dark spots and marks.
– It brightens the skin, leaving you with an even, radiant skin tone.
– It’s all natural!
– It’s made using several flowers and plants, including rose, lavender, geranium, chamomile, jojoba, neem seed oil and rooibos!
– It’s non-greasy and light, unlike other oil products
– It’s endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.
– Because it is plant-based its suitable for vegans too.
– A few drops at night can help restore the damage caused by the day
– It’s super Affordable at R180 a pop!

My Opinion?
I use it at night because it’s an oil and I don’t trust it to be out during the day with it on my face (you know, brown girls burn too.) I have noticed an improvement in my skin tone and I wake up with my skin looking radiant from the previous nights application. It also feels great, smooth and hydrated.

Though it claims to be non-greasy, it still makes my skin quite shiny (another reason to use it at night) Once it dries, your skin doesn’t feel oily at all, but it will still have a bit of a shine. It’s best to apply a moisturiser afterwards. Do not use this product as a replacement to your moisturiser.

I do love this product and it is now a part of my skin care regime. And I LOVE affordable products! Considering you only need a few drops, I’m sure this is going to last me forever!

Shoutout to African Extracts and The Beauty Bulliten for hooking me up with this product!

9 Skincare Habits to Establish in Your 20’s

Hey 20 Somethings!

Prevention is Key when it comes to your skin. So if you’re worried about how you will look in 20 years, you may want to start establishing some good habits. These are a few I’ve started working on:

1. Wear Sunscreen.

This one is pretty self explanatory but it’s important. Not only does it protect your skin from harsh UV rays, but it will also stop you from ageing before your time. Also, skin cancer is a real thing. Wear it on your face, I usually apply it before I apply Make up and also make sure that any parts of your body that are exposed to direct sunlight during the day are covered in sunscreen also.

2. Consistency is Key.

The sooner you find a skincare regime or range that works for you, the better. Find it and stick to it. Being consistent with your skincare routine will give the products more time to do their job and give you the results you desire in the long term. My favourite range is still Environ, but I’ve started playing with Avene.
3. Non-Abrasive Exfoliation is your friend!

Find a mild exfoliator to use twice or thrice a week, this will help eliminate impurities in the skin as well as help clean out your pores. My favourite is the Balancing Masque by Environ.

20170413-DSC_0149
4. Moisturise Daily.

Twice a day if you can. Every morning and every night- try and make it part of your routine. It doesn’t matter your skin type, even greasy or oily skin needs to be moisturised. It will also eliminate the appearance of dry skin. Avene has a great range of moisturisers which all contain SPF (Hello, killing two birds with one stone) and their range works great for people who suffer from skin irregularities.
5. Remove Your Make Up Before Bed.

You know that going to sleep with your make up on is bad for you, yet of course, you do it over and over again. Sometimes you’re just exhausted or other times a bit inebriated. It’s okay, these things happen. But it’s terrible for your skin, it leads to bacteria build up and inevitable breakouts. Always cleanse and tone your face after removing make up and go to sleep with after moisturising your face. If you love your skin, your skin will love you back. The Micellar Cleansing Water and Make Up Remover from Garnier is my favourite product when it comes to make up removal.
6. Start Using an Eye Cream or Gel. The first part of your face that shows signs of ageing are your eyes. Therefore it would make sense to protect that area of your face. A good eye cream will prevent fine lines and dark bags around the eyes. I’m yet to find one that I am happy with but when I do, I’ll let you know.

20170413-DSC_0111
7. Tissue Oil is Bae.

Applying tissue oil to all your wobbly bits, irregardless of whether you have stretch marks or not will contribute to the elimination and prevention of stretch marks in the future. It also helps repair the skin, helping the cells heal faster.
8. Sleep More, of course.

Your skin needs time to regenerate, it needs time to rest. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep will contribute to clearer and healthier skin. Trust me.

20170413-DSC_0112
9. Less alcohol. More Water.

A night of heavy drinking can seriously dehydrate your body and skin. Be sure to drink lots of water on nights you choose to consume alcohol. Try and get in 2L of water a day, on the regular. Water works wonders for your skin. It’s the cheapest treatment!

These are the 9 Habits I’ve started establishing in my 20’s, what are some of yours? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

Here’s to clear and wrinkle free skin in our 40’s!
