DYME Beauty App

A few months ago, I came across this awesome app called DYME which allows you to book beauty appointments in the comfort of your own home or office.

It seemed like a great idea to me so I downloaded the app but never got around to booking an appointment.

This week though I teamed up with the team over at DYME to find out more about the app, it’s services and what an appointment entails.

I booked a full manicure with gelish in my lounge, which was pretty awesome. I didn’t have to worry about what I was wearing to go out, or if I was running late or think about where I’m going to park when I get there- nope! I literally just chilled at home till my nail technician arrived.

My nail technician arrived early with the biggest smile on her face ready to pamper me! Her name was Michelle and she was able to give me a lot of information about DYME.

The app has been around for just over a year now and is based on Cape Town, Joburg and Durban. Though it’s still fairly new, it’s become extremely popular in these cities. Services available include hair, make up, nail tech, maintenance, barber, manicure, pedicure, massage, lash extensions, hair removal, facials and couples therapy. Basically everything you need to keep yourself looking and feeling good!

My treatment went well, Michelle kept the conversation flowing and paid attention to detail – which is a must for me when getting my nails done. It takes her under 5 mins to set up and pack up. She made sure that I was happy at all times. I was extremely happy with my nails by the end of the appointment.

My first experience with DYME was amazing, and I will definitely be booking with them again soon.

If you’re interested in booking an appointment with DYME, download the app on your phone, choose your treatment and artist, then book the time and place! Wham bam you’re booked!

Don’t forget to use my promo code: DYME150 in order to get R150 off your appointment.

Who’s booking an appointment?!

Until next time!

Shellac Manicure at Hello Gorgeous Review

So this week I tried something different and had my nails done at Hello Gorgeous, and instead of getting my usual gelish mani I opted for a Shellac manicure– which seems to be the specialty at Hello Gorgeous.

What is Shellac?

According to my nail therapist at Hello Gorgeous, it’s a form of gel that’s a lot better for the nails as it’s thinner than gelish. It promises a 14 day wear. It’s cured under a UV lamp as is gelish. And it’s removal is healthier and gentler on your nails, as it doesn’t need to be scraped off.

My opinion?

My nails look awesome. And I can definitely feel that it’s thinner and lighter on my nails. The colour options are fairly limited, I would have loved to be more creative in my choices.

I had my nails done on Saturday, and by Monday morning one of my nails already started chipping. I had a glitter overlay on my ring fingers and this looked great at the salon but when I left I noticed the top coat was bubbling up a bit.

If you look closely you can see the top coat bubbling up. 😦

I’ll wait the full two weeks before I deliver my final verdict.

Hello Gorgeous Newlands!

What a pleasant salon experience! You walk in to be greeted by “HELLO GORGEOUS” exclaimed by all the staff. The salon is small and intimate but there’s enough space for them to do several manicures and pedicures at once. They have a facial service too(which I didn’t test out). Upon arrival I was offered tea, coffee or water and my manicurist was able to keep me entertained throughout my treatment. They go above and beyond to accommodate your nail needs.

They were even able to fix my annoying broken nail, which other salons just shrugged at when I asked them to fix it for me! #miracleworkers

Their prices are a bit higher than normal salons but still affordable, considering the great service. I will defiantly be returning.

Solace Therapy Review

Hello 20 Somethings!
Happy 2018 to you and yours! I don’t know about you, but I’m so feeling the New Year, New Me vibes. And new me, also means new blog posts! Yay!

So this post is the first of a new line of reviews, focussing on small day Spas where you can get your everyday beauty treatments done, such as nails, massages, hair removal etc.

I usually get my gelish done at a well known salon, which you can find at any mall, but recently I’ve been disappointed with their service and have begun venturing out to other smaller salons to get my nails done.

I happened upon Solace Therapy, when a friend of mine invited me to get my nails done with her. In the heart of Buitengracht Street, Cape Town, the venue is accessible and perfect for a girls day.

The salon is clean and well lit and it creates a perfect environment for relaxation. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. On the downside, we weren’t offered any sort of beverage on arrival. (as most salon’s do, which adds a lovely, personal touch.)

I had my gelish done by a lovely therapist named Tamryn, she’s probably one of the best women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting while doing my nails. She was extremely friendly and made for good conversation- and she did a pretty good job with my nails. She’s the main reason I will be returning.

They don’t have as many Gelish colours available as I would have liked, but enough to be able to work with as well as some unusual colours to play around with.

I was very happy with my experience at Solace Therapy and will definitely be returning in the near future. Their prices are reasonable and won’t break your bank and they also stock my favourite skincare range, Environ!

Check out their website here.

Until next time!
